Episode 109: 2X or Bust

Summary of Main Ideas

Do you want to really go all in?

Listen to your podcasts at 2X speed.

It seems crazy and stressful, but over time, you will acclimate. You will grow accustomed to it and begin to view 2X speed as the norm.

Recently, I was listening to a podcast on my drive, and I thought to myself, “I must have accidentally set my player back to normal speed.”

Nope.

I had just grown accustomed to 2X, and what once seemed out of reach was the norm.

Whether it be a podcast, or your life, over time, you will acclimate. Going all in is scary, but your crazy today will one day become your normal.

As leaders, we set the tempo. If we want to see people improve, if we want to see our people operate at 2X, then we have to be operating even faster, even more dialed in.

Those of you with children understand this well.

With your first kid, every cry or whimper was reason to head to the ER. Every cough or sniffle sent you to WebMD.

But what happened when kid 2 or 3 came along?

You know better. You know that what seems like the most mountainous task, or the most insurmountable obstacle, is really just a speed bump. A minor inconvenience, and one that is totally doable.

When we dive into the insanity that is stepping up and going to the next level, it defines who we are. But given the time, we learn about our willingness to persevere, to work, and to adjust so that we can achieve that which is most important to us.

Quotes

“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act. It is your actions that will define and delineate who you really are.” Thomas Jefferson

“You aren't going to find anybody that's going to be successful without making a sacrifice and without perseverance.”  Lou Holtz
